Hey society: stop sucking.

I am a firm believer in karma. What goes around comes around. You get what you dish out. That kind of stuff.

The problem I see with society today is that there is no more respect for others just for the simple fact that they are human beings. For example, laying someone off without any severance. Yelling at the waitress because the chef overcooked your NY strip. Not saying "excuse me" when pushing past someone in a busy store.

If you want respect, you need to put respect out into the universe so that there is enough to go around for everyone.

I think selfishness has gone too far. Especially with lawsuits. I have nothing against a lawsuit used properly. If you almost die because a pharmacist gave to the wrong medicine, by all means, they should have to pay for your hospital bills. If you get into an automobile accident and it was an uninsured driver's fault, they should have to pay out of pocket for getting your car fixed. I can get behind that.

It's when people start using lawsuits as revenge or basic greediness that I start raising my eyebrow. Crappy things are going to happen to you. But being a crappy person back to someone is not going to make things any better for you, it just releases more negative energy into the universe. And heaven knows we don't need any more of that! It is of my opinion that if you take your hardships in stride and keep pushing through with positive energy and a joyful heart that you will get a return for your effort, eventually. Patience, young grasshoppers.

So don't pee on yourself so you can sue for public embarrassment or start crying and holding your neck after getting into a fender bender. I would much rather do without a few thousand dollars and get some positive karma than to have to wait around and have all that negative energy smack me in the butt.

I also apply this to what we eat. I am not against eating meat. I love chicken and steak. I really do. But I feel like because the animal is serving us as sustenance; we should serve them too. I won't get into details on this in this post because it isn't what I'm trying to be about right now. I do want to say that an animal treated with respect in life will serve as better food for your body.

It's all about positive energy.

Getting to know me: Things I hate

Something tells me it's going to be harder to narrow these down than it was for my previous post. Before I start, let's assume that I hate everything that normal people hate. Plagues, genocide, child molesters, etc.

1. Surprises. There is nothing about a surprise that I like. The thought of someone plotting something that involves me that I have no idea about freaks me out. I'm kind of controlling like that. I also have a problem with surprises in my schedule. I have to have a few days notice so I can put things in my calendar. I'm not the kind of person that can decide to go have lunch with my friends spontaneously. I have to know in advance or it stresses me out to the point that I just don't want to bother with it anymore.

2. People asking me if I've heard of something or saw a movie, and then when I answer no, they act like I'm the only person on the face of the earth that hasn't seen it.
"Have you seen The Day the Earth Exploded and Kittens Seeped Out of It?
"What? No. I've never seen that."
"You mean you're telling me that you've never seen TDTEEAKSOOI? You know.. with Nicolas Cage and that guy that was on that reality tv show once?"
"Yeah, those pieces of information still hasn't jogged anything. I think I would remember that."

3. Douchebags. Don't be mean for the sake of being mean. No one likes that. Oh and chin strap "beards" will always suck. Sorry.

4. People who are different for the sake of being different. I applaud people who want to be themselves. Think pink hair looks good on you? Go for it! But recognize that there are about six thousand more people who have decided to do the exact same thing as you.

5. Migraines. Eff migraines.

6. Soggy food. Don't drown my hamburger in condiments please. Chewing it is one of my favorite parts of the eating experience.
*barf*

7. Spelling or grammar errors in newscasts or newspaper articles. It takes like 4 seconds to google how to spell something. If you're going to send careless errors out into the world, I don't trust you to check your sources on the information you're supplying me either.

8. This is a biggie. Those people who can see a mile away that their lane is closing, yet they still wait until the very last minute to try to get as close to the front of the line that they can instead of waiting in traffic just like everyone else. I HATE THAT.

9. This is bigger. Those people who actually let the above mentioned drivers in, which encourages the behavior. I HATE THAT EVEN MORE.

I think I'll stop here.

Getting to know me: Things I like

I think the best way to get to know people is to learn their likes and dislikes. So here it goes. Things I enjoy in no particular order

1. My cat.  I am complete and total cat lady. Everything she does makes me want to grab her and snuggle her until her eyeballs pop out. Somehow, I resist. Her name is Lucy and she is a two year old dilute calico with the sassiest personality.

D'awww
2. Isaac. My fiance is by far the most wonderful person I've ever met. I really enjoy his company and he's a great partner. He's such a fun and caring person. We're the best of friends and I am very lucky to marry him.

3. Dexter. This is by far my favorite television show right now. I own seasons 1-3, and hope to get the others soon. The dynamic of the show is what draws me in. He is a serial killer.. which is bad.. but he only kills bad guys.. which is good. See? Super dynamic. His dry sense of humor and tone of voice has me rolling all the time. Oh, and Michael C. Hall is a total hottie. Even in the Dodge commercials. Am I right?

4. Television shows on DVDs. This is all I ask for on holidays. Even if I haven't seen the show yet, I will get it on DVD. I hate cliffhangers. Oops. Wrong post.

5. The coast! I dream of moving there someday. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'm totally a 46 year old parrothead in my mind. Permavacationing is the life for me!
You see the resemblance, right?

6. Wildlife. All kinds of wildlife. Honorable mention: squirrels, pelicans, and sparrows.

7. The color yellow. It's my power color.

8. Laughing. I know, this one is really lame. Everyone likes laughing. But I put a lot of weight on the importance of humor. One-liners get me every time. I've been known to tell some pretty HI-larious corny jokes too.

9. My UBs. These girls are the best friends I've ever had, and I haven't even met them yet. We are sprinkled all over the country (and Canada!). We've been friends for about two years now and I can't wait to meet every single one of them. We all have different personalities, come from different types of families, and are in different places in our lives. We work it all together to make a supergroup of support, cupcake recipes, and uppitiness. It's a beautiful thing.

Hello, world.

I am an avid googler. If there were a google addict support group; sign me up.

No, really. I actually googled "blog first post examples" after opening the page and staring at the white box for about a minute and a half.

I learned that I'm supposed to tell y'all what this blog will be about. The problem with that, is I don't really know at this point. I am a college student, hopefully graduating a year early, in less than a year. I'm a workaholic and obsessive over almost everything that I do. Which is not a very helpful trait to have when going to school full time, working full time (in retail, no less), and planning a wedding in leftover time.

This blog should consist of little things that go on in my life. I've always said that I'm mediocre at everything and good at nothing. So I think this will probably consist of many different paths I decide to embark on.

The title of my blog comes from the idea that a girl my age from the town I grew up in should be barefoot and pregnant. I am anything and probably everything, but that.

Another reason for my blog is that I'm what I like to call Diet-Crunchy. Hippie-lite, if you will. I like to eat organic and free range as much as I can. I like natural, recyclable products. I have wild curly hair that sometimes I don't bother taming and, much to my fiance's chagrin, I don't shave my legs unless I have to. Lord help my little future granola baby. But I must admit, sometimes I shop at WalMart because I can't afford much else. And sometimes I partake in Bojangles chicken biscuits. But I do the best I can to respect nature and serve others.

I also view shoes as my canvas arch nemeses (no pun intended).

Love,
